As part of the CEO Summit Indian Ocean, the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM) led a strategic session dedicated to Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs). Under the aegis of Mr. Ny Riana Nampoina Raharimanjato, Minister of Industrialization, discussions focused on the need for strengthened public-private collaboration to catalyze high-impact investments in the region.
The round table, moderated by Mrs. Josielle Rafidy (CEO of EDBM), brought together key perspectives from major institutions such as the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and ANPI Comoros. A major focus was placed on regional connectivity and concrete success stories, notably the 'Invest in Comoros 2025' initiative, which mobilized major foreign direct investment for Moroni's port infrastructure.
The private sector also provided pragmatic insights. GasyNet demonstrated how digitalizing trade procedures facilitates cross-border exchanges, while Alpha Ciment SA shared its experience as an investor in Madagascar, emphasizing the vital importance of stability and legal certainty to sustain industrial projects.
La Réunion Développement and the consultancy firm Stratégies & Territoires complemented these exchanges by positioning the region as a technical and advisory hub capable of attracting international financial flows from outside the zone. The vision of a resolutely regional approach to economic attractiveness received unanimous support from the panelists.
In conclusion, the Indian Ocean region confirms its dynamism for both intra-regional and international investments. For EDBM and its partners, the objective is now to turn these exchanges into concrete coordination actions to make the Indian Ocean a competitive and globally integrated economic hub.
